Jerami Grant re-signing with Trail Blazers for 5 years, $160 million

Grant averaged 20.5 points last season, 3rd on the Blazers behind franchise legend Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons.

With Jerami Grant reportedly returning to Portland, what else can the Blazers do to contend now around Damian Lillard?

Portland forward Jerami Grant will remain with the Trail Blazers after agreeing to a five-year, $160-million contract.

Grant, 29, was initially traded to Portland in 2022 after his sign-and-trade from Denver to Detroit in 2020.

He featured in 63 games with the Trail Blazers last season, averaging 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 40.1% from 3-point range.

Before coming to the Blazers, Grant — who played his college basketball at Syracuse — averaged 19.2 points in 47 games with the Pistons this past season and has seen his numbers greatly improve over the last two years. In his first six seasons, he averaged 9.3 points while playing for Philadelphia, Oklahoma City and Denver.

But in his two seasons with the Pistons, Grant averaged 20.9 points.

His trade to Portland served as a homecoming of sorts. Grant was born in 1994 when his father, Harvey Grant, was in the first of his three seasons as a member of the Trail Blazers.
