The Nuggets acquired the draft rights to Sonny Weems from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for a future second round pick during a draft night trade on June 26. Weems, a 6-6 guard who spent the past two seasons at the University of Arkansas, was a First Team All-SEC performer in 2007-08 after averaging 15.0 ppg and 4.5 rpg as a senior. The Nuggets traded the the 20th overall selection in the 2008 NBA Draft to the Charlotte Bobcats on June 25. In return, Denver will receive a future protected first round draft pick from Charlotte.
